Education

An above-average interest in agronomy brought Holwerda to the Agricultural University of Wageningen in the Netherlands, where he completed his Master of Science (MSc) degree in Agronomy in 1991. From 2006 to 2008, Holwerda studied an Executive Master of Business Administration (Executive MBA with a focus on entrepreneurship) at the Flanders Business School / Kellogg School of Management where he completes ‘with distinction’ his second Master’s degree.

Professional background

For more than 30 years, Holwerda has been active for SQM, world market leader in the production and marketing of potassium nitrate (KNO₃) and water-soluble NPKs, successively in international sales, marketing and business development of water-soluble fertilizers, applied in fertigation, as foliar feeding or field application. For the last five years, he has worked as Senior Director Merger & Acquisition, Strategy and Business Development at SQM International NV. 

HSPN Consulting

In 2024, HSPN Consulting was founded. In this company Holwerda’s knowledge, expertise, experience and international network continue to be widely available to (further) develop and market successful business in the field of water-soluble plant nutrition.

An important first pillar of HSPN Consulting is the scientific substantiation. Not as an end in itself, but purely as a means to generate new business.
