De zuurwerking zorgt er daarbij voor dat de vorming van neerslagen, zoals calciumfosfaat en ijzerfosfaat, in druppelleidingen zoveel mogelijk wordt voorkomen om verstoppingen in de druppelaars tegen te gaan. Een verstopte druppelaar betekent dat de plant sterft door een gebrek aan water en nutri\u00ebnten.
