De inname van jodium met groenten en fruit is onvoldoende om in de dagelijkse behoefte van de mens te voorzien. Dat komt omdat de bodems waarin deze gewassen geteeld worden te weinig beschikbare jodium voor opname door de plant bevatten. Ook veranderende levensstijlen leiden tot minder jodium inname: vegetari\u00ebrs en veganisten eten geen producten van dierlijke oorsprong; bij het ontbijt wordt minder of geen brood, bereid met gejodeerd bakkerszout, meer gegeten; en er is een toename in consumptie van convenience food, bereid zonder gejodeerd zout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/hspn.consulting\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Blog-5.-picture-of-wheat-crop-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-391\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hspn.consulting\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Blog-5.-picture-of-wheat-crop-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/hspn.consulting\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Blog-5.-picture-of-wheat-crop-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/hspn.consulting\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Blog-5.-picture-of-wheat-crop-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/hspn.consulting\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Blog-5.-picture-of-wheat-crop-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/hspn.consulting\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Blog-5.-picture-of-wheat-crop-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Het is aangetoond dat bladbespuitingen met meststoffen, zoals kaliumnitraat verrijkt met jodium, effectief zijn bij het verhogen van het jodiumgehalte in tarwe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Landbouwkundige biofortificatie met jodium, selenium en zink via bemesting<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Een mogelijke oplossing voor dit wereldwijde probleem is landbouwkundige biofortificatie. Dit is het verrijken van de eetbare delen van een plant met essenti\u00eble micronutri\u00ebnten, zoals jodium, selenium en zink, die via bemesting worden toegediend en opgenomen door de plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Bladbespuitingen en fertigatie met meststoffen, zoals kaliumnitraat verrijkt met jodium, verhogen het jodiumgehalte in gewassen \u00a0<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Bladbespuitingen met meststoffen, zoals kaliumnitraat verrijkt met jodium, bleken effectief in het verhogen van het jodiumgehalte in onder andere tarwe, rijst, mais, appel en peer. Daarnaast hebben fertigatieprojecten met een voedingsoplossing die jodium bevatte, in tomaat en sla aangetoond dat beide gewassen een verhoogd jodiumgehalte hadden. Bij landbouwkundige biofortificatie door middel van bladbespuiting en fertigatie zijn de toegediende hoeveelheden jodium aanzienlijk groter dan bij toediening van jodium als een micronutri\u00ebnt van planten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Van meststof via plant en voedselverwerking tot inname door de mens<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>Vervolgonderzoek toonde aan dat jodium in voedsel, bereid uit landbouwkundig gebiofortificeerde rijst en tarwe, uiteindelijk beschikbaar gemaakt wordt door de menselijke spijsvertering voor verdere opname en verspreiding door het lichaam. Hiermee is het volledige traject van jodium \u201cvan meststof tot mens\u201d voltooid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><strong>Landbouwkundige biofortificatie door toediening van wateroplosbare meststoffen met jodium in fertigatie of als bladbespuiting <\/strong><\/a><strong>biedt kansen voor innovatieve meststoffen<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>Consumptie van deze landbouwkundig gebiofortificeerde gewassen kan significant bijdragen aan een verbeterde jodium inname door de mens.
